Color in Google Shopping feeds
Color drives the color filters and swatches in Shopping results. It is required for apparel in several countries including the US, and for any product that varies by color. Up to three colors can be combined with slashes for multi color items, 100 characters total.
How this app fills it
- By default the app finds the variant option named color or colour and sends its value.
- The Detail tab can switch color to a custom expression or turn it off.
- Any single product can override color from the Products page.
Dos
- Name your Shopify option Color so the automatic mapping picks it up.
- Use real color words shoppers filter by. Navy beats Midnight Ocean.
- Send the main color first for multi color products, like Black/Red.
Don'ts
- Don't use marketing color names alone. Google cannot map Sunset Dream to a filter.
- Don't put size or material words in the color field.
- Don't use numbers or codes as colors. Color 42 fails validation in apparel categories.
