Size in Google Shopping feeds
Size powers the size filters in Shopping results and is required for apparel and shoes in several countries. Each variant sends one size value up to 100 characters, and the optional size_system attribute tells Google which country's sizing the values use.
How this app fills it
- By default the app finds the variant option named size and sends its value.
- The Detail tab can switch size to a custom expression or turn it off, and sets the size system like US, EU or AU.
- Any single product can override size from the Products page.
Dos
- Name your Shopify option Size so the automatic mapping picks it up.
- Set the size system when you sell internationally. An M means different things in different countries.
- Use standard size words. S, M, L, XL and numeric sizes all filter cleanly.
- Combine dimensions in one value when needed, like 32x34 for jeans.
Don'ts
- Don't send one item per size with no item_group_id. Sizes belong to variants of one grouped product.
- Don't put fit words like slim in the size field alone. Google has a separate size_type attribute for fit.
- Don't leave size off apparel in countries where it is required. The item gets disapproved.
Frequently asked questions
Is size required?
For apparel and shoes in the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan and Brazil, yes. Elsewhere it is recommended whenever products vary by size.
What is size_system?
A companion attribute naming the sizing standard, like US or EU. Set it once in the Detail tab when you sell across regions.
How do shoe half sizes work?
Send the exact value your variant uses, like 9.5. Standard numeric sizes filter correctly.
