Google Shopping image requirements

The image is the largest part of a Shopping ad, and Google enforces hard rules on it. Minimum 100 by 100 pixels, or 250 by 250 for apparel. No watermarks, no promotional overlays, no placeholders. Beyond compliance, image quality decides clicks more than any other attribute.

How this app fills it

• The main image is the variant's own image when it has one, else the product's featured image. The Media tab controls this.
• Up to 10 additional images ride along as additional_image_link, matching Google's cap.
• Reordering images in Shopify changes what the feed sends on the next run.
• The Optimization page lists products with no image at all.

Dos

• Use images of at least 1024 by 1024 pixels so zoom works everywhere.
• Show the product on a white or transparent background for the main image.
• Give each variant its own image. Shoppers clicking a red shirt expect a red shirt.
• Send additional angles and lifestyle shots as extra images.

Don'ts

• No watermarks, logos or text overlays on the main image. Google disapproves them.
• No promotional graphics like sale badges baked into images.
• Don't use placeholder or coming soon images.
• Don't crop the product so parts are cut off in the main image.
